What should I look for when seeking a therapist?
Choosing a therapist can be a daunting decision. You may need to talk to a few initially to get a feel for whether you could work with them.
In order for therapy to be successful, a strong therapeutic relationship is paramount.
Most therapists offer an initial consultation to decide if both you and the therapist can work together and that you feel comfortable.
It is important that the therapist is qualified, has insurance and belongs to a governing body.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on what the issues that come up in therapy and can be explored collaboratively with your therapist. I can offer short and long term therapy and also single session therapy.
You can choose to stop therapy whenever you wish .
How do I know if I need counselling?
Counselling can help you to gain clarity on an issue, untangle complex personal issues, help you develop a deeper level of self-awareness that helps you recognise old or unhealthy patterns of behaviour, or embark on journey of self- development.
You may also seek counselling as a result of a crisis or not knowing where else to turn, or you are feeling lost, alone and can't make sense of life or who you are.
Anything that's bothering you or negatively impacting your life physically or emotionally, then counselling may be able to help.
